FRIWO production reaches record high with power supplies and chargers

Ostbevern/Shenzhen, December 9, 2003:
When Friemann & Wolf Gerätebau GmbH (FRIWO) was founded in 1971 and developed the world's first plug-in adapter, nobody ever imagined that FRIWO would sell 750 million power supplies and chargers some day.

In 1971, 1000 units per week left the assembly lines, in 1988 the company already counted 100,000. Until 1995, almost 100 million units of the "FRIWO" brand were sold. This marked the beginning of a new aera with an increasing demand for power supplies and chargers. Currently more than 100 million units are sold per year. By November 2003 FRIWO sold the 750 millionth power supply.

As a result of the radical restructuring, the company, under the leadership of Rolf Endress, has repositioned strategically, significantly improved its competitiveness and is back in the black again this year.

The company was split-up into two independent operating business units. Whilst the business unit FRIWO Mobile Power (FMP) deals in telephony and IT technology, FRIWO Power Solutions (FPS) takes care of individual power supplies and chargers for IT & communication, power tools, industrial and medical applications.
With modern R&D centers, production facilities and sales offices in Europe, Asia, North and South America, CEAG AG/FRIWO Group demonstrates its presence on all important world markets.

"The return into profitability is the result of our last years' work. We will follow this path, and we will not slow down in generating new growth potentials and innovations. This is also of utmost importance to all FRIWO locations", said Rolf Endress at the presentation of the 750 millionth FRIWO power supply in Ostbevern.
